Defining how your technology is seen and understood — translating complex products and processes into clear, compelling visuals that build credibility and drive decisions.
Poor visual communication is one of the most expensive problems in the energy sector. Most organizations never connect the communication failure to the outcome failure — lost investors, stalled approvals, missed market opportunities. I’ve spent a career closing that gap — and I’m available for the right engagement.
A career spent making the invisible visible — translating complex energy technology into visual language that non-technical audiences can see, understand, and act on. Language that investors fund, regulators approve, and the public responds to.
I move easily between strategy and execution.
Available for Creative Director, Senior Visual Strategist, and advisory roles within energy, cleantech, and industrial organizations. Calgary-based, remote-ready.
“If you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.”
That’s not a design philosophy — it’s a business reality. Technology that can’t be visualized can’t be funded, can’t earn regulatory approval, and can’t be adopted by the people who need to use it. Visual communication, directed at the strategic level, is what makes complex technology real to the audiences who matter.
Guiding visual strategy and producing safe operating procedure and risk analysis animations for PROTECT — a service provider specializing in safety, reliability, risk management, compliance, and operator training for the ethanol and broader renewable fuels industry.
Referred by an established engineering firm, I delivered the initial project work. Six years later, PROTECT approached me to take over from their incumbent supplier.
Industrial Safety & Process Visualization · Animation · StrategyBuilt and managed the complete visual communications program for a breakthrough new energy company capturing wasted industrial heat to generate power — 3D renderings, animations, branding, pitch presentations, and a 120-page investor package.
The sustained effort culminated in an Earthshot Prize-winning submission for ATS Energy — partly because the technology had been communicated clearly enough to be understood by everyone evaluating it.
New Energy · Investor Comms · 3D Visualization · Earthshot PrizeVisual strategist and designer on a senior communications team at the Canadian Energy Regulator — translating complex regulatory content into clear, accessible visuals for national audiences. High-stakes work where clarity directly affects public trust and compliance.
In regulated industries, the quality of public communication isn’t cosmetic — it has direct consequences for trust, compliance, and social licence.
Regulatory · Rebrand · Motion GraphicsEmbedded visual communications specialist within ConocoPhillips — one of the world’s largest energy companies. Responsible for internal and external communications, executive presentations, and community outreach, while handling confidential and proprietary information at the enterprise level.
The centrepiece of this engagement was leading the creation of a fully rendered model of the Surmont SAGD facility — Canada’s second largest in situ operation at ~150,000 bpd. That work is part of a broader body of oil sands visualization spanning four of Canada’s largest SAGD operations, collectively producing over 500,000 barrels per day.
3D Visualization · Enterprise · Oil & GasIn-house visual communications for one of Canada’s largest energy infrastructure companies — supporting internal teams, executive leadership, and public-facing communications across the full spectrum of the organization’s needs.
Projects included annual reports, shareholder meetings, confidential executive presentations, pipeline mapping, motion graphics for community outreach, tradeshow installations, and environmental displays. In infrastructure at this scale, community acceptance is not a given — it has to be earned through communication that is clear, credible, and consistent.
Energy Infrastructure · Annual Reports · MotionVisual communications for AEC International — with a heavy focus on South American oil and gas projects, internal and external communications, executive presentations, mapping, and general illustrative work. Following the landmark merger forming EnCana, one of the largest corporate mergers in Canadian energy history, that work expanded to support cultural integration and market confidence during a major organizational transition.
Merger Rebrand · Corporate Identity · EnergySenior marketing leadership across four business units: residential, multi-family, commercial and land development. Responsible for strategy, executive presentations, budget management, sales centre design and technology integration, and corporate brand unification across the organization — reducing costs while strengthening market presence and visual consistency.

ATS Energy developed a breakthrough technology that captures wasted industrial heat and converts it to power. I was brought in to make that technology visible — to build, manage, and sustain the visual communications that would carry it from concept to global recognition. Over several years, that meant 3D renderings, animations, branding, pitch presentations, performance visualizations, and a comprehensive 120-page investor package that brought together the technology story, market opportunity, ROI projections, and the global impact case.
The whole effort culminated in an Earthshot Prize-winning submission for ATS Energy — the globally recognized environmental award founded by Prince William — bringing worldwide attention to a technology that had been communicated clearly enough to be understood by everyone from climate scientists to the general public.
If you’re working on something technically complex that needs to be better understood — by investors, regulators, customers, or your own team — I’d welcome a conversation.
